Crossing the line between art and textiles
Katherine Tinteren-Klitzke prints, paints and draws on cloth, canvas and paper. Structure and texture are important asepcts of the paintings, both in the choice of medium and the method of applying paint. She assembles pieces of fabric, including those she has already used as samples for her textile designs, to make canvasses for oil and acrylic paintings. She sews, knots and weaves non-textile materials and adds textile accessories to make three-dimensional objects. She draws her inspiration from the materials which, paired with her own techniques, determine the results.
